
Yamil Peralta vs. Darío Balmaceda - Mario Margossian
Argentinian boxing continues with an action packed doubleheader, including explosive fights, top champions and promising prospects brought by Argentina Boxing Promotions on TyC Sports. South American and World Boxing Council (WBC) Latino cruiserweight champion, two-time olympian and unbeaten Argentinian prospect Yamil Peralta, will face current Argentinian cruiserweight monarch, Darío Balmaceda, who will try to defend for the first time his national crown, at a highly awaited rematch, at the main event of an exciting boxing night on Friday, March 12th, at the Parque de la Ciudad, in Cutral Có, Neuquén, Argentina, promoted by Argentina Boxing Promotions, of Mario Margossian, which will be televised live on TyC Sports, to Argentina, the United States and the whole continent, at 10 p.m. Argentina, 8 p.m. USA (ET). In the co main event of the evening, heavy puncher and local prospect Damián “Chiva” Rojas will face Matías “El Distinto” Leiva, trying to conquer the World Boxing Association (WBA) Fedebol lightweight vacant title.
They know each other very well. On February 1st, 2020, Peralta (8-0, 3 KOs), 29 years old, from Del Viso, Buenos Aires, Argentinian representative in London 2012 -where he reached quarter finals- and Rio de Janeiro 2016, #1 of the Argentinian cruiserweight ranking and #19 WBC, took out Balmaceda (19-19-2, 13 KOs), 36, from Coronel Moldes, Córdoba, by a strong technical knock out in the ninth round, and dethroned him from the South American belt.
Now they’ll meet again. Peralta, who dethroned Marcos Aumada by unanimous decision to conquer his WBC Latino belt that he defended in the rematch over Aumada, after destroying Balmaceda, defended two times his South American crown dominating Marcos Karalitzky and Gustavo Schmitt, who he finished in four rounds on December 11th in Garín, Buenos Aires.
Balmaceda has faced big names such us countrymen Javier Maciel, Ezequiel Maderna, Walter Sequeira, Roberto Bolonti, beat Javier Mamaní, José Clavero, Mariano Gudiño and Patricio Pitto. He also fought in Europe against stars like British George Groves, Colombian Roamer Angulo, Italian Fabio Turchi and Russian Evgeny Romanov, and will try to defend for the first time the Argentinian belt he obtained on April 20th, 2019, when he crushed Pablo Farías in the sixth chapter, in the unification bout with the South American crown.
ROJAS-LEIVA, THE CO MAIN EVENT
In the co main event of the evening, heavy puncher and local prospect Damián “Chiva” Rojas (13-2, 10 KOs) will face Matías “El Distinto” Leiva (5-2-1, 1 KO), trying to conquer the WBA Fedebol lightweight vacant title.
Rojas, 25, from Cutral Có, #5 of the Argentinian super featherweight ranking, will have the chance to get crowned in from of his people. After beating countrymen Sergio Estrela, Daniel Sosa, Uruguayan Martín Severo, on December 19th, he dominated César Pérez by unanimous decision in his last fight. Leiva, 26, from Mar del Plata, who has beaten Nicolás Paz, comes after his rematch against undeafeated prospect Federico Pedraza -which whom he had a draw- losing by majority decision, so he yearns for a victory.
LOCAL FIGHTERS COMPLETE THE CARD
Beyond the main fights, a heated card has been prepared to complete the night. Ezequiel “Kelo” Nieva (0-1), from Cutral Có, Neuquén, will face Andrés “El Carnicero” Panguilef (0-1-2), from Neuquén, in a bout in lightweight division, scheduled to four rounds.
Finally, in super lightweight division, debutant Axel “El Misil” Isla, from Neuquén, takes on debutant Yago “El Rayo” Mellado, from Zapala, Neuquén, in a bout scheduled to four rounds.
