Argentinian boxing continues with an action packed night, including explosive fights, important champions and promising prospects brought by Argentina Boxing Promotions on TyC Sports. World Boxing Organization (WBO) flyweight champion, unbeaten star Anahí “La Indiecita” López, will face world title challenger Débora “Polvorita” Gómez, in a rematch bout in flyweight division, at the main event of an exciting boxing night on Friday, April 2nd, at the Club Atlético, Social y Deportivo Camioneros, in Luis Guillón, Buenos Aires, Argentina, promoted by Argentina Boxing Promotions, of Mario Margossian, which will be televised live on TyC Sports, to Argentina, the United States and the whole continent, at 9 p.m. Argentina, 8 p.m. USA (ET).

In the co main event of the evening, Argentinian lightweight champion, Yamila Abellaneda, will face world title challenger Paola Benavidez, trying to defend for the second time her belt.

On Thursday afternoon, all of the participants were tested for the Coronavirus COVID-19, in a strict control that took place at the Argentinian Boxing Federation, and all of the results turned out negative, leaving everyone ready to fight. After that, it was time for the weigh in ceremony.

They know each other very well. López (17-0-1, 1 KO) defeated Gómez (7-5-1) twice after attractive clashes, first on July 23rd, 2016, by split decision, and on July 12th, 2019, by unanimous decision. After that, López conquered WBO belt on December 20th, 2019, when she dominated Venezuelan Niorkis Carreño by a wide unanimous decision and defended it on December 19th outboxing current Argentinian monarch Ayelén Granadino, by unanimous decision, in this at this same venue.

After their last bout, Gómez, 26, from José León Suárez, Buenos Aires, # 1 of the Argentinian flyweight ranking, recovered by beating Sol Baumstarh, and on January 30th lost a split decision against Micaela Luján for the International Boxing Federation (IBF) World super flyweight title. However, she comes in the best shape after defeating Carla Merino on March 13th in Río Cuarto, Córdoba, ready to get her revenge.

Both fighters made the weight on the scales, leaving everything ready for their bout. López weighed 112 lbs., and Gómez weighed 111.3 lbs.

ABELLANEDA-BENAVIDEZ, THE CO MAIN EVENT

In the co main event of the evening, Argentinian lightweight champion, Yamila Abellaneda (11-4, 3 KOs), will face world title challenger Paola Benavidez (8-4-2), trying to defend for the first time her belt.

Abellaneda weighed 134.4 lbs., and Benavidez weighed 131.8 lbs.

Abellaneda, 27, from Pocitos, San Juan, based in Buenos Aires, who has only lost against big names such as Brazilians Rosa Volante, Adriana Dos Santos, Canadian Marie Eve Dicaire and Swedish Patricia Berghult, will try to defend for the second time the title she conquered on February 21st, when she dominated Pamela Benavidez -Paola’s sister- by a wide unanimous decision in Buenos Aires, and she retained on December 19th over Karen Alaniz by the same result. Now she will face Benavidez, 35, from Resistencia, Chaco, former Argentinian National team and # 4 of the Argentinian featherweight ranking, who has a draw against Daniela Bermúdez for the WBO super flyweight world title, but then defeated Marianela Ramírez, and comes after a controversial loss against Uruguayan Paola Ibarra in Montevideo, Uruguay.

ARGAÑARAZ-SCHMITT III AND MORE

Beyond the main fights, a heated card has been prepared to complete the night. In another rematch, Nicolás “Pupi” Argañaraz (8-3, 2 KOs), from González Catán, Buenos Aires, will face Gustavo “El Volcán” Schmitt (6-12-1, 1 KO), from Florencio Varela, Buenos Aires, in a bout in cruiserweight division, scheduled to six rounds. It will be the third clash between them, after Argañaraz won the first one by unanimous decision on April 20th, 2019, and Schmitt won the second one by technical knockout on December 20th, 2019.

Argañaraz weighed 192.4 lbs., and Schmitt weighed 197.3 lbs.

In another attraction of the evening, in flyweight division, Nicolás “El Demonio” Muguruza (5-0, 1 KO), from Bragado, Buenos Aires, takes on Víctor Díaz (1-0), from San Rafael, Mendoza, in a bout scheduled to four rounds.

Muguruza weighed 112 lbs., and Díaz weighed 111.6 lbs.

Finally, in super middleweight division, world title challenger Ezequiel “Epi” Martínez (44-9-3-1 nc, 16 KOs), from Solano, Buenos Aires, faces Darío “Pato” Baigorria (9-33-2, 6 KOs), from Dolores, Buenos Aires, in a bout scheduled to six rounds.

Martínez weighed 163.1 lbs., and Baigorria weighed 159.5 lbs.
