Cóceres against Saunders for world title on 11/9 in LA

World Boxing Organization (WBO) Latino and World Boxing Association (WBA) Fedebol middleweight champion, unbeaten prospect Marcelo “El Terrible” Cóceres, will face two time world champion, undefeated Billy Joe “Superb” Saunders, trying to dethrone him from the WBO World super middleweight title, at one of the main events of an exciting boxing night on Saturday, November 9th, at the Staples Center, in Los Angeles, California, United States of America, promoted by Matchroom Boxing, and a new challenge for Argentina Boxing Promotions, of Mario Margossian, which will be televised live on TyC Sports and Space, for Argentina and the whole American continent, and DAZN for the US.

In the most important fight of his career, Cóceres (28-0-1, 15 KOs), 28 years old, from Villaguay, Entre Ríos, Argentina, current # 10 of the WBO super middleweight world ranking, former International Boxing Federation (IBF) Latino junior middleweight and World Boxing Council (WBC) Latino middleweight champion, comes after last September 21st when he dominated countryman Germán Peralta by unanimous decision to conquer the WBA Fedebol belt in Buenos Aires. Now he will face Saunders (28-0, 13 KOs), 30, from Welwyn Garden City, England, former WBO World middleweight champion, as well as silver olympic medalist, former British, Commonwealth, European and International middleweight monarch, who will aim to defend for the first time the belt he obtained on May 18th when he defeated German Shefat Isufi by unanimous decision in Stevenage, England.

Cóceres, who has defeated his countrymen Sergio Sanders, Mateo Verón, César Vélez, Sebastián Luján, Brazilians Adonisio Reges and Claudinei Lacerda, on August 18th, 2018, dominated Cristian Zárate and conquered the WBO Latino middleweight crown, and continued his strike against Brazilians Davi Eliasquevici and Carmelito De Jesús, before his victory over Peralta.

But now he will clash against Saunders, silver medalist in Beijing 2008, who has beaten Australian Jarrod Fletcher, British Nick Blackwell, Gary O’Sullivan, John Ryder, Chris Eubank Jr., and Italian Emanuele Blandamura, on December 19th, 2015, he dethroned Irish Andy Lee by majority decision of the WBO World middleweight title. He retained it over Russian Artur Akavov, American Willie Monroe Jr. and Canadian David Lemieux, before jumping to the 168 pounds and beating Isufi for his new crown.
