Argentinian boxing continues with an action packed night filled with champions, big names and promising prospects brought by Argentina Boxing Promotions on TyC Sports. South American middleweight champion, Argentinian rising prospect Lucas “El Tornado” Bastida, will face tough Germán “El Martillo” Peralta, trying to defend for the second time his crown, at the main event of an exciting boxing night on Saturday, January 16th, at the Microestadio Municipal de Hurlingham, in Hurlingham, Buenos Aires, Argentina, promoted by Argentina Boxing Promotions, of Mario Margossian, which will be televised live on TyC Sports, to Argentina, the United States and the whole continent, at 11:55 p.m. Argentina, 9:55 p.m. USA (ET). TyC Sports will televise live at 10 p.m. Argentina, 8 p.m. USA (ET).
In the co main event of the evening, Argentinian super lightweight champion, Daniel “El Zorrito” Córdoba, will face former South American and Latino champion Martín “El Principito” Coggi, trying to defend for the first time his belt.
On Friday afternoon, all of the participants were tested for the Coronavirus COVID-19, in a strict control that took place at the Argentinian Boxing Federation, and all of the results turned out negative, leaving everyone ready to fight. After that, it was time for the weigh in ceremony.
In what is expected to be an action packed fight, Bastida (15-1, 8 KOs), 23 years old, from Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires, #1 of the Argentinean middleweight ranking, will look to shine again. After defeating every opponent in his country -only losing after a cut- including Nicolás Verón, Sergio Paysse, Cristian Zárate, Dominican Félix Vargas, and Ezequiel Romero, he will try to defend for the second time the title he conquered after annihilating Gonzalo Chaparro in less than one round on January 11th in Mar del Plata, and after dominating Marcelo Bzowski, defended on December 11th devastating Sergio López in one round in Garín, Buenos Aires. Now he will face Peralta (8-7-5, 1 KO), 30, from Buenos Aires, #8 of the Argentinean middleweight ranking, who has beaten Marcelo Farías, has a draw with Dominican Henrri Polanco, defeated Tomás Reynoso and lost by decision to Jonathan Sánchez and Marcelo Cóceres, as well as unbeaten Russians Sergei Shigashev and Timur Kerefov, comes after crushing Cristian Ríos in one chapter on December 11th in Buenos Aires, and aims for the belt.
Both fighters made the weight on the scales, leaving everything ready for their bout. Bastida weighed 158 lbs., and Peralta weighed 159.3 lbs.
CÓRDOBA-COGGI, THE CO MAIN EVENT
In the co main event, Argentinian super lightweight champion, Daniel “El Zorrito” Córdoba (12-6-0-2 nc, 2 KOs), will face former South American and Latino champion Martín “El Principito” Coggi (37-9-3-1 nc, 18 KOs), trying to defend for the first time his belt.
Córdoba weighed 138.3 lbs., and Coggi weighed 138.1 lbs.
Córdoba, 26 years old, Tres Arroyos, Buenos Aires, who has beaten countrymen Martín Ruiz, Carlos Santana and Germán Benítez, lost to Javier Clavero and Dominican Michel Rivera, recoverd over Elías Haedo but lost on the scorecards to Armenian Vage Sarukhanyan in Moscow, will try to defend for the first time the title he conquered on February 21st after defeating previously unbeaten prospect Nicolás Andino by unanimous decision in Buenos Aires. Now he will meet Coggi, 37, from Brandsen, Buenos Aires, #9 of the Argentinean super lightweight ranking, former South American super lightweight and World Boxing Council (WBC) Latino super lightweight champion as well as WBC Latino interim welterweight monarch, who has defeated countrymen Wilfredo Vilches, Diego Luque, Mariano Robledo and Pablo Barboza, lost to Cuban Brunet Zamora in Italy and French Christopher Sebire in France, as well as to Germán Benítez and Sebastián Aguirre, comes after two victories in a row, first over Leandro Rojo and then over Sergio Gil, on December 27th, 2019, in Buenos Aires.
ACOSTA-CÓRDOBA AND MORE
Beyond the main fights, a heated card has been prepared to complete the night. Prospect Ezequiel “El León” Acosta (4-0, 3 KOs), from Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires, will face Sergio “El Chatito” Córdoba (7-10, 3 KOs), from Córdoba, in a bout in cruiserweight division, scheduled to four rounds.
Acosta weighed 181.2 lbs., and Córdoba weighed 183.9 lbs.
Finally, in super batamweight division, Germán “Crack” López (2-2), from Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires, takes on Matías “El Huracán” Leguizamón (0-2), from General Rodríguez, Buenos Aires, in a bout scheduled to four rounds.
López weighed 120.3 lbs., and Leguizamón weighed 121.8 lbs.
